Teaching Hatha Yoga - The Ultimate Yoga Teacher

..., sweat in a 105 degree Fahrenheit room, or study Yoga with a Mommy and Me class? There are so many types of Yoga to choose from.

This is only the tip of the ice berg, as new contemporary styles of Yoga are springing up all the time. So how can you guide potential Yoga students in your direction? One way is to state what makes your particular teaching method unique.

Some Yoga teachers specialize in specific areas. For example: Hot, Prenatal, Therapeutic, restorative, Power, and Chair are contemporary prefixes to Yoga. It is fine to be a general practitioner, but having a niche, or two, will draw students into areas of Yoga, which you are enthusiastic about.

When Yoga teachers are enthusiastic, they demonstrate patience, and they glow with praise for their students. No two Yoga students are alike, but Yoga teachers should still be the best visible examples of ethics, giving, integrity, patience, and living a holistic life.

Yoga Provides Relief and Health Benefits for Certain Health Issues

...Yoga has been shown, throughout its ancient practice, to provide innumerable health benefits to those who practice it. More recently Yoga has been shown to benefit people with specific health issues, such as fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, and scoliosis.

Fibromyalgia is a condition originating in the body's connective tissue, causing inflammation and soreness in the tendons and ligaments. Greater levels of endurance and stamina lead to a less depressed physical and mental state. Yoga has also been shown to improve sleep and concentration levels. Also, while some higher impact types of exercise can sometimes worsen symptoms for sufferers, Yoga is low-impact and str...more

Teaching Hatha Yoga: Is a Hatha Yoga teacher a karma Yogi?

...oga, it was not because of the money. If money is the prime motivating force behind teaching Yoga, this type of Yoga teacher will not last long. There is too much giving of ones self involved in teaching Yoga.

There are many Yoga teachers who give selfless service to the elderly, to the sick, and to the poor. When a Yoga studio, or an, ashram is profitable, they always give to charities or have fund raisers. All of the Yoga teachers I have met, give to those in need and do not turn their backs on the poor.

Although karma Yoga, Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and bhakti Yoga are considered higher spiritual forms of Yoga, Hatha Yoga is a gateway to character ...more

Health Benefits of Yoga

...Yoga is an ancient way, practiced for thousands of years, steeped in tradition and, to most people, a mysterious enigma. When practitioners would speak of the many benefits they had experienced in both mental and physical health, yoga would seem to be both a perfect practice, or one whose claims were impossible to believe.

practitioners of yoga, or yogis/yogins (yogini for the ladies) would speak of the unification of mind, spirit, and body. The belief was that when these were brought into balance the persons mental and physical health would improve. The word "harmony" would be heard a lot, as would be "healing", again, applied both to the body and the mind.

Until recently, you could only go by what someone who had personal experience could tell you. There was a reasonable amount of skepticism that yoga could actually be as beneficial to your mental and physical health as its proponents claimed.

However, in the last few years, scientific study, observation, and measurement have proven that yoga can indeed have specific observable affects on your health. It has been shown that body, mind, and spirit do work together and ...more
